Great content shouldn't have to wait for payday. That's why we're excited to introduce Payflex — soon you'll be able to book your studio session at Studio Portal and split the cost into interest-free instalments. This way, you can lock in your slot now and pay it off over the next few weeks.
It's not live just yet, but we wanted to give you a heads-up so you know what's on the way. Whether it's your first podcast, a batch of marketing videos, or a full Deluxe+ production, Payflex will let you get started without paying the whole amount upfront. Here's everything you need to know, plus a preview of how booking and paying will work.
What is Payflex?
Payflex is South Africa's original "buy now, pay later" service. Instead of paying the full price in one go, you can split your purchase into smaller instalments. As long as you pay on time, it's completely interest-free and fee-free. You only ever pay the original price of your session.
There's nothing to apply for in advance and no lengthy credit process. Payflex runs a quick, real-time check at checkout, and most people are approved in under a minute.
Why We're Adding It
Booking a professional shoot is an investment, and we'd rather that never be the reason a good idea sits on the shelf. Once Payflex is live, it will mean you can:
Start sooner: Reserve your date without waiting until you've saved the full amount.
Spread the cost: Pay across your next two or three paydays instead of all at once.
Skip the interest: Pay on time and there are no fees or interest, ever.
Keep your cash flow healthy: Especially handy for businesses booking a batch of marketing or training content.
How Booking and Paying with Payflex Will Work
Once it goes live, the whole process will take just a few minutes. Here's a preview of how it will work:
Go to the Book page: Head to studioportal.co.za/book and browse the in-studio sessions.
Choose your service and package: Pick your podcast package (Basic, Pro, Deluxe, or Deluxe+) or a Marketing & Training session. Not sure which is right? Our packages guide breaks it down.
Pick your date and time: Select an available slot, choose Studio 1 or Studio 2, and add any extras like additional reels, a priority turnaround, or drone footage.
Head to checkout: Review your session details and fill in your contact information so we know who's coming.
Select Payflex as your payment method: At the payment step, you'll be able to choose Payflex instead of paying the full amount by card.
Get approved in real time: Enter a few quick details — your name, email, and South African ID number. Payflex checks your application instantly; approval usually takes under a minute.
Pay your first instalment: You'll pay the first portion upfront to confirm the booking. The remaining instalments are automatically collected from your card on your following paydays.
You're booked! Your slot is locked in and you'll get a confirmation email with your session details and a prep guide — exactly the same as any other booking.
That's it! From there, the rest of your instalments are handled automatically, so you can focus on the shoot, not the admin.
Pay in 3 or Pay in 4 — What's the Difference?
When it launches, Payflex will give you two ways to split the cost:
Pay in 3: Pay a third (33.33%) upfront, then the rest over your next two paydays.
Pay in 4: Pay a quarter (25%) upfront, then three more instalments every two weeks over six weeks.
Both options are interest-free when you pay on time. You'll see the options available to you at checkout.
A Few Things to Know
You need to be 18 or older, have a valid South African ID, and a South African debit or credit card.
Interest-free means interest-free — as long as instalments are paid on time. Late payments may attract a small admin fee from Payflex, so keep enough in your account on each due date.
Your booking will be confirmed immediately once the first instalment goes through — you won't have to wait until it's fully paid off to secure your date.
Everything else stays the same. Same studio, same team, same confirmation email and prep guide. Payflex will only change how you pay, not what you get.

Will Payflex cost more than paying in full? No. Pay your instalments on time and you'll pay exactly the original session price — no interest, no added fees.
Do I need the Payflex app? You won't need it to check out, but the free Payflex app is the easiest way to track your instalments and payment dates.
Will I be able to use Payflex on any package? Yes — from a Basic podcast session right up to Deluxe+, plus add-ons. Once it's live, you'll see Payflex as an option at checkout.
What about on-location or custom productions? Those are custom-scoped, so payment is arranged directly with us. Just mention that you'd like to use Payflex when we put your proposal together.
